Covering combines 1/2” square and triangle sections cut from found aerial photographs of the Earth's surface to produce quilt patterns. These pieces use photos of neighborhoods, cities, farmland, bodies of water, rugged terrain, and other landscapes to create the various textures. Much like the Earth, a quilt documents the lives of numerous generations and requires care to endure as it is handed down over time. The titles of these pieces (Mosaic Star, T Squares, Stars and Windows Variation, and Prairie Queen Variation) reference the traditional quilt patterns followed to create them.
